We're pleased to be bringing back the "Idea Market" session to PdF this year, as last year it was one of the conference highlights. It's basically a "flea market" for ideas. Picture a large room with all kinds of interesting people hosting discussions based at tables scattered around the room, and attendees "voting with their feet" and sampling the topics, or hanging around one table for the full session to go deep on one subject.

Is John McCain's right-left-and-center blogger outreach strategy savvy or just too contrived?; the Obama campaign gives Google juice to rumors about their candidate; McCain's "virtual town hall" looks a great deal like a conference call; the long record of congressional history makes not of the very first Twitter debate live from the House floor; a Pennsylvania congressman caught in a "gotcha" moment over video about the Iraq warand more.

On Wednesday (June 11), I joined a panel of eCampaign Directors for major presidential campaigns at a forum called, what else, the first 21st Century Campaign, sponsored by Google and National Journal. Peter Dauo for Senator Clinton, Mark Soohoo for Senator McCain, Joe Rospars for Senator Obama, and me, former Director of eStrategy for Governor Romney’s presidential campaign, rounded out the panel.

We discussed topics such as what it’s like to run Internet strategy for a major presidential campaign, the changing role of traditional media, what factors into a candidate’s success on the Internet, and whether the guerrilla tactics employed during the campaign will carry over to the White House for the candidate who is elected.
