In an all-GOP edition of the week's favorite videos, Fred Thompson takes a stand, a satiric Mike Huckabee ad manages to insult just about every Republican in Iowa, we see a quieter, God-fearing Chuck Norris, Rudy giggles, and Ron Paul gives a dazed performance in his own Christmas video.
We want your vids! Send along your suggestions to info AT techpresident DOT com.
5. Fred Thompson, GOP refuse a show of hands
The candidates strike back! At this week’s Republican debate in Iowa, Fred Thompson, tired of being asked yet another “show of hands” question, refused to raise his hand to show if he believed that “global climate change is a serious threat and caused by human activity.” Mitt Romney asked for a minute to answer, was denied, asked for thirty seconds, and was denied again. The audience applauded. More than 37,000 views on YouTube.
4. Mike Huckabee’s Message to Iowa
This satire of Mike Huckabee’s nice guy image manages to strike a blow against Huck’s campaign, the Republican electorate, and the rest of the GOP field in one fell swoop. Almost 90,000 views on YouTube.
3. Chuck and Mike discuss faith - Episode Three
In this episode, a softer side of Chuck Norris. Standing in front of a poster of a younger Norris in western gear, Chuck and Huck have an intimate discussion of faith. It includes this doozy of a non-sequitur: “That’s what the president is, he’s a servant to the people. I think sometimes past presidents have forgotten that, that they are serving the people, the people aren’t serving them. So Mike, I just want a strong man of faith leading our country next year, and I know that man is you.” More than 33,000 views on YouTube.
2. Rudy Giggliani!
Is there something in the water? First Hillary Clinton had a Sunday show laugh-a-thon a couple of months ago, and now, as TPM Media shows it, fellow New Yorker Rudy Giuliani had a fit of the giggles on Meet the Press last weekend. While these chucklepalooza videos are a bit of a cheap shot — anyone laughing out of context, over and over, can come across as a little creepy — it is strange that the more Tim Russert turns up the heat, the more Giuliani giggles. More than 76,000 views on YouTube.
1. Season’s Greetings from the Ron Paul Family
Looking like a captive in his own home, Ron Paul wishes us a happy holiday. With a shot of about 750 people lining the staircase of his house, a sloppy sound mix, and weird dissolves, the video is a fitting yuletide message from the homespun Paul campaign. But even this video has been viewed more than 56,000 times on YouTube.
