The Web on the Candidates
- David All live-blogged a therapy session conference call between conservative bloggers and John McCain's campaign. "We’re looking to build relationships with all of you..." says McCain's senior advisor Terry Nelson. More at Beltway Blogroll.
- AirCongress is webcasting daily snapshots from HotlineTV, a YouTube channel produced by Chuck Todd from the National Journal. Yesterday, Todd and senior editor John Mercurio discussed the chances that Rudy Giuliani will run for president. “There’s a track record here. He ran for the Senate in 2000. He got into the race for all intents and purposes and then got out,” said Mercurio. But, said Todd, “Rudy has been doing little things every day to look more and more like a candidate, and this is yet another little thing. … He’s doing as many things as Mitt Romney.” (via AirCongress)
- The New York Times and Associated Press report that the Catholic League is demanding John Edwards fire two of his bloggers -- Amanda Marcotte of Pandagon and Melissa McEwen of Shakespeare's Sister -- because allegedly anti-Catholic posts they've written on their non-Edwards blogs.
The Candidates on the Web
- Some things are better left unsaid: "One of the great things that came out of the Guv's speech this weekend was an end to the conventional wisdom that the Guv isn't charismatic," writes the Richardson Web Team on Bill Richardsons' blog.
- Chris "DoddPod" Dodd's site is king when it comes to embedded media. The home page alone features two embedded YouTube videos, a podcast courtesy of Evoca.com, and a giant Flickr slideshow that doesn't fit on the page but aggregates pics of this years' DNC Winter Meeting. He even offers a downloadable iCal calendar so you can stay on top of campaign events. "People talking to people. That’s how we’re going to change the debate and earn our party’s nomination next year," the site says. He's trying.
- Over on John McCain's exploratory site, McCain celebrates Ronald Reagan's 96th birthday with a video tribute to Reagan which just happens to reassert McCain's conservative credentials and his affinity for Barry Goldwater. It's the only video featured on the site.
Are you there?
- Barack Obama's exploratory site hasn't changed since he announced his run; still lacks video, blogging, RSS feeds, podcasting.
- Ron Paul's web site is still incomplete, continues to stretch the meaning of "soon," and asks that you send a contribution by personal check!
- Sam Brownback's site still features his candidacy announcement on the home page. Also, maybe it's time to get a real, memorable URL instead of http://www.t-worx.com/Default.aspx?alias=www.t-worx.com/brownback ?
Hillary's blog countdown
- It's been 16 days since Hillary Clinton said "I'm in" but still no campaign blog...
