Just as Lamont shouldn't be overlooked, pre-06/YouTube Web Video shouldn't be, either. A brief timeline:

1998: AL Gov. Bill Riley does first major constituent video email.

2000: Steve Forbes becomes first Pres. candidate to announced via Webcast

2002: DNC's "Social Insecurity" breaks out as first Web Video attack ad to generate major free media

2004: Bush-Cheney's "Unprincipled" becomes first major presidential web video attack ad; DNC's "Faces of Frustration" montage of W @ pres. debates follows.

So, alas, Web Video has not go back as far as e-Politics (DiFi first campaign website, 1994), it's not as new as some think.

Witnessing the continuing brouhaha over the 1984/Vote Different video, it's easy to think that the 2008 campaigns are the first to play with online video. For the sake of context, it's worthwhile to take a step back and look at how one previous campaign paved the way for 2008.
