Unsheathing the YouTube Sword

Tobin Van Ostern,

I heard about that.

It's another reason for Senator McCain to start unsheathing the YouTube sword. If he does more exclusives that are mocked/featured in prime time television, people can go and view that video and others too. After some time, if there is consistency in uploading videos, a community will form around his "YouTube" exclusives -- a perfect fundraising base.

Alternative Reason For High Number of Views

I would offer the alternative hypothesis that rather than the video being viewed so much more because it was great, it was instead viewed so much more because it was highly mocked (Jon Stewart did a piece ripping into it for example). Now traffic is traffic but I'm not sure that's the kind of attention McCain is really looking for.

A few weeks ago Senator McCain's campaign did on YouTube what it needs to start doing -- posting video exclusives to the medium.
