Jackpot? Not what it looks like to me!

Trippi can be an innovative thinker, no doubt about that. But, if he was a baseball player, he'd never get signed with a win/loss record like his--0/9 last time I checked.

Maybe, by having him in an advisory role instead of management, the campaign can harness his thinking without his pissy personality. However, I have to say, after working with him as an Iowa volunteer in 2004, I was not impressed. Folks on staff who worked with him much more closely, were even less impressed. Marketing professionals like me, who saw how he spent our donations with his own firm and with friends, were horrified. The stuff Trippi, McMahon, Squires turned out was dreck. The media buys were amateur.

So, unless--as a Republican--you're thrilled that Trippi is about to run another Democratic contender into the ground and waste tens of millions of contributions that could be better used, I'm puzzled by your opinion that the Edwards campaign "hit the jackpot."

Edwards just hit the jackpot.

I posted this on my blog...

Here’s the sentence which jumps out at me from Trippi’s post:

Lets make a difference together, for each other, and for our country. Too much is at stake to give anything less than everything we’ve got.

Get ready for John Edwards 3.0.

This is the smartest play Edwards has made to date and could prove a serious challenge for Barack and Hillary (is she still the front-runner?).

I have a lot of respect for Joe Trippi. His book, “The Revolution will not be televised,” will always be one of my favorites.

In fact, in my Politico.com column yesterday I concluded by saying, “The open-source revolution that was started by Democratic strategist Joe Trippi’s vision for Howard Dean’s 2004 presidential campaign is coming — whether you’re ready or not.”

That being said, let’s hope Trippi (and all of the Democrats) fail online, miserably. Then we’d clearly have an online advantage.

Trippi Joins the Edwards Campaign

Former Dean campaign manager Joe Trippi has signed on as Senior Advisor to the John Edwards campaign. Here's the complete text of his announcement from Edwards' site:

I really thought that the 2004 presidential campaign would be the last I would be involved in. I have always wanted to make a difference, but for me I thought those days were over.
