Registration required

@Michael Turk: Registration is one thing, but having to have an American address to be able to register is a totally different point. And a negative one in my view. Since I don't live in the US and therefore cannot register as a 'Friend of Fred' I won't be able to 1) receive a newsletter and 2) view the blog comments. Maybe that part of the registration should be skipped all together?

One interesting wrinkle--you can't view comments on the site's blog without first becoming a "Friend of Fred."

I wrestled with that, but required registration primarily to cut back on spam. There are some fairly good spam tools out there, but I still see a lot of it - especially on older posts. I figured it's a small inconvenience to ensure that you and future readers aren't sifting through ads and clutter to follow the discussion.

This comment from you:
"He was actually asked by a supporter how he would deal with the threat of Iran, and he nervously laughed and said, "You know that old Beach Boys song 'Bomb Iran?'" and proceeded to sing "Bomb Bomb Bomb Iran..."

is very misleading. McCain was responding to a question from the crowd, in which the person asked when would be a good time to send Tehran a message airmail. It was not a question about how he would deal with the threat of Iran. To say that would be to say that McCain wants to bomb them and wants to do it lightheartedly. Get your facts straight.
