Mitt Romney has officially launched his Presidential myspace page. And surprisingly, it's actually very authentic, personal, and hand-crafted for the medium. Two delicious scoops of porridge on this cold, cold Saturday are in order for his eTeam (Mindy Finn and Stephen Smith).
Mitt's myspace page looks to be a revolutionary change in the model of a top-tier candidate. As opposed to simply being a re-hash of Mitt's official/boring/vanilla website (like John McCain's), his team is fully embracing all of the things that makes myspace a great place to hang out, interact, and share with your friends.
In an email to me, Team Romney writes:
It has some pretty cool functionality out of the gate … a short intro video specifically for MySpace, an RSS widget that displays news from our website, a nice little slideshow, a couple of viral graphics, links to our YouTube channel and our Facebook profile … and “A Little Less Conversation” by Elvis Presley.
And they're right. Check out this personal video message which they've wisely uploaded using myspace video:
Welcome
And it's also got the nifty little contribution widget which I had heard about last night. Apparently, the widget is specifically designed to interface directly with the official campaign's donation page.
If the candidate's interaction with facebook, myspace, YouTube, and therefore us are any indication of what's to come, I'd suggest that this campaign could energize America's youth and modern constituents to head to the polling booth with more vigor than ever before. And that's a good thing for democracy.
Revolution!
Disclosure: I'm one of Mitt's "top friends." That doesn't mean I work for the guy or any other Presidential candidate. But, it is good to be loved.
