There seems to be no limit to the power of the people to use the internet to express themselves politically, artistically, ... you name it. Continuing in my emerging pattern of video show-n-tell, check out Hillary's Downfall. You can watch the video and vote on whether you find it offensive on this Democratic Underground post. I thought it was offensive, but I was laughing too hard to cast my vote.

(NOTE: I had reservations linking directly to this video, so I have posted to an item that allows people to vote on whether it is offensive, as an extra filter. As I indicated in my opening sentence, this video shows that there is no limit to how citizens can use the internet to make political statements.)

Some quick takes on the three campaigns' ups and downs in YouTube-land: Will Hillary Clinton's difficulties finding the rest-stop coffee machine ON button go viral? Does anyone want to go "Behind the Scenes" with John McCain? Did Obama's denounce-and-reject press conference have the Wright stuff?

Today, one of the Republican Party's fastest rising stars, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, joined New Orleans Democratic Mayor Ray Nagin to announce that they are working with YouTube and Google to "bring American voices into a forum with Presidential nominees."

Political campaigns should digitally record everything, to their peril or advantage.

NPR launches a new hub for voters to post their political stories; does Obama's fundraising model remove the need for public financing?; why do government tax sites work better than government participation sites?; Obama's online tactics further illustrate the generational gap between him and Clinton; a video of Obama talking about the effect of social media on his campaign; Members of Congress may finally get to use YouTube; and an federal agency wants to pass the archiving of gov't sites to a nonprofit. Come on, disk space is cheap!

I just watched the new McCain girls video, "Here Comes McCain Again" and I am totally creeped out. Aside from the fact that they have butchered one of my favorite songs, the goth motif is really spooky. And the scene with McCain looking in through the window... call the cops! We got a peeping John.

As each primary has come and gone this year — Iowa, New Hampshire, Super Tuesday — YouTube has encouraged users to cover them using video. But politics editor Steve Grove, who heads up the YouChoose ‘08 section of the site, never thought we’d be going this late into the year. Yet here we are.

I had the pleasure of sitting down with Joe Trippi a week ago, as we both were in DC for the launch of Larry Lessig's new Change-Congress project. (Joe is working with Larry on CC, and the Sunlight Foundation, which I consult for, was co-sponsoring Larry's speech). If you watch closely, you can see Larry in the background of the first video, in fact. In general, the lack of production values suggests I should stick to my day job, I know. But we covered a lot of interesting ground, as you'll see...

Weighing in at not quite 2 tons of fun, the McCain Girls are tearing up the YouTube charts and shattering a whole lot of eardrums. Are they hip? Do they make John McCain hip? The jury is still out on that.

And while the McCain Girls have racked up more than a half million views in just one week, they are still a good bit shy of the total number times people have watched John McCain sing that old Beach Boy's ditty. Combining the various clips and mash-ups of the ol' hipster singing "Bomb Iran," McCain has been viewed at least 5 million times. More than 1.1 million of those views were of his unedited clip. For my money, though, I prefer Mike Gravel's remake of John Lennon's "Give Peace a Chance" to McCain's surf band homage:
